LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A major downtown hotel project has encountered a delay.
The Cordish Company and Omni Hotels have requested a four month delay from the Metro Council to allow the completion of the design phase of a 600 room hotel, upscale apartments and a downtown grocery store. The original deadline pertaining to the funds allocated to the transfer of the "Water Company" block is September 1.
A spokesman for Mayor Greg Fischer says it is possible the developers could beat their new deadline of December 31.
Construction is scheduled to start in 2015 with a tentative opening set for 2017.
